How to Ditch Your Fairy

I just finished reading "How to Ditch Your Fairy" by Justine Larbalestier.
It takes place in a world where almost everyone has their own personal fairy. These invisible creatures help/hinder humans in various ways: there are loose change finding fairies, good hair fairies, clothes shopping fairies, all boys like you fairies, and parking fairies. Charlie, a student at New Avalon Sports High, is the not-so-happy owner of a parking fairy. Not only is it useless for someone who can’t even drive, it’s a major annoyance because of all the people wanting her to ride in their cars and get them a good parking spot. She spend most of her time walking in attempt to ditch her fairy but then gets an opportunity to swap fairies.
You'll have to read the book to see how that turns out.

But in the process of reading this book, it got me thinking about if we did have fairies what would mine be. I came to the conclusion mine most be the spot fairy who really loves white shirts. What kind of fairy do you think you have?

New Mercy Watson Book

The 6th Mercy Watson Book is out. If you aren't familar with this series it is about Mr and Mrs Watson and their pet pig Mercy. The author of this series is Kate DiCamillo. She has won many awards for her books including this series.
Kathy, who is a kindergarten teacher and works at Blue Kangaroo, has personally recommended and sold well over 100 books in this series. Unfortuanely she has not read the newest one yet because she is off on vacation in California.

I think this one is my favorite in the series. Mr. and Mrs. Watson take Mercy to the movies where Mercy finds bottomless buckets of very buttery popcorn.

You better pick this one up it's a winner!!

May

I can't believe where the month has gone. We have a busy month both at the store and at home. As schools are wrapping up the year we welcome the AR (Accelerated Readers) from Edison School and Bismarck Henning Elementary. We also will be having 2 author signing this week.
The first one will be on Thursday at the Danville Public Library. G. M. Moore will be signing her book Muskee Attack. Then on Saturday the Library will also be having co-author Darcy Vance signing her book The Geek Girl's Guide to Cheerleading by Charity Tahmaseb and Darcy Vance. We will be sell the books at both events but will not be there on Saturday due to my youngest daughter graduating high school. Both of these authors have local roots, so stop by and see them. They would appreciate the support. Moore's book is geared for boys 9 - 12 years old, and Vance's book is for girls 12 and up.
